The prayer of the Rosary is divided up into four different sets of Mysteries (each set has 5 Mysteries). The Scriptural Rosary is a truly powerful way to pray the Rosary, providing inspiration Scripture passages before every prayer within the Rosary, which in turn brings the Mysteries of the Rosary to true life.

The First Joyful Mystery – The Annunciation

Our Father…

Luminous

The First Luminous Mystery – The Baptism in the Jordan

Our Father

  1. [John the Baptist] said, / “I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, / ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’ / as the prophet Isaiah said.” (Jn 1:23) Hail Mary
  2. And [John] preached, saying, / “After me comes he who is mightier than I, / the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie.” (Mk 1:7) Hail Mary

The First Sorrowful Mystery – The Agony in the Garden

Our Father

The Second Joyful Mystery – The Visitation

The Third Joyful Mystery – The Nativity

The Fourth Joyful Mystery – The Presentation

The Second Luminous Mystery – The Wedding Feast of Cana
Our Father

1. There was a marriage at Cana in Galilee, / and the mother of Jesus was there. (Jn 2:1) Hail Mary

2. When the wine failed, the mother of Jesus said to him, / “They have no wine.” (Jn 2:3) Hail Mary

3. And Jesus said to her, / “O woman, what have you to do with me? / My hour has not yet come.” (Jn 2:4) Hail Mary

4. His mother said to the servers, / “Do whatever he tells you.” (Jn 2:5) Hail Mary

5. Now six stone jars were standing there, / for the Jewish rites of purification, / each holding twenty or thirty gallons. (Jn 2:6) Hail Mary

6. Jesus said to them, / “Fill the jars with water.” / And they filled them to the brim. (Jn 2:7) Hail Mary

7. He said to them, / “Now draw some out, / and take it to the steward of the feast.” (Jn 2:8) Hail Mary

8. When the steward of the feast tasted the water now become wine, / and did not know where it came from, / . . . the steward of the feast called the bridegroom. (Jn 2:9) Hail Mary

The Third Luminous Mystery – The Proclamation of the Kingdom
Our Father

1. Now after John was arrested, / Jesus came into Galilee, / preaching the gospel of God (Mk 1:14) Hail Mary

2. In him was life, / and the life was the light of men. / The light shines in the darkness, / and the darkness has not overcome it. (Jn 1:4-5) Hail Mary

3. [Jesus said], “The time is fulfilled, / and the kingdom of God is at hand; / repent, and believe in the gospel.” (Mk 1:15) Hail Mary

4. And many were gathered together, / so that there was no longer room for them . . . and he was preaching the word to them. (Mk 2:2) Hail Mary

5. And when they could not get near [Jesus] because of the crowd, / they removed the roof above him; / and when they had made an opening, / they let down the pallet on which the paralytic lay. (Mk 2:4) Hail Mary

6. “Which is easier, / to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ / or to say, ‘Rise, pick up your pallet and walk?’” (Mk 2:9) Hail Mary

7. “But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins” / — he said to the paralytic — / “I say to you, rise, take up your pallet and go home.” (Mk 2:10-11) Hail Mary

8. And [Jesus] called to him his twelve disciples / and gave them authority over unclean spirits, / to cast them out, / and to heal every disease and every infirmity. (Mt 10:1) Hail Mary

9. These Twelve Jesus sent out charging them . . . to preach . . . / “The kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (cf. Mt 10:5 & 7) Hail Mary

10. And when [Jesus] had said this, / he breathed on them and said to them, / “Receive the Holy Spirit. / If you forgive the sins of any, / they are forgiven; / if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” (Jn 20:22-23) Hail Mary

The Fourth Luminous Mystery – The Transfiguration
Our Father

1. Now about eight days after these saying / [Jesus] took with him Peter and John and James, / and went up on the mountain to pray. (Lk 9:28) Hail Mary

2. And [Jesus] was transfigured before them, / and his face shone like the sun, / and his garments became white as light (Mt 17:2) Hail Mary

3. And behold, / there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, / talking with him (Mt 17:3) Hail Mary

4. [Moses and Elijah] . . . spoke of [Jesus’] exodus / that he was to accomplish in Jerusalem. (Lk 9:31) Hail Mary

5. And Peter said to Jesus, / “Lord, it is well that we are here; / if you wish, I will make three booths here, / one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” (Mt 17:4) Hail Mary

6. As [Peter] said this, / a cloud came and overshadowed them; / and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. (Lk 9:34) Hail Mary

7. And a voice came out of the cloud, / “This is my Son, my Chosen; / listen to him!” (Lk 9:35)Hail Mary

8. And suddenly looking around / they no longer saw any one with them but Jesus only. (Mk 9:8) Hail Mary

9. And as they were coming down the mountain, / [Jesus] charged them to tell no one what they had seen, / until the Son of man should have risen from the dead. (Mk 9:9) Hail Mary

The Fifth Luminous Mystery – The Institution of the Eucharist

3. And when the hour came, / he sat at table, and the apostles with him. / And he said to them, / “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.” (Lk 22:14-15) Hail Mary

Our Father

The Second Sorrowful Mystery – The Scourging at the Pillar
Our Father

1. And as soon as it was morning / the chief priests, with the elders and scribes, / and the whole council held a consultation; / and they bound Jesus and led him away / and delivered him to Pilate./ And Pilate asked him, / “Are you the king of the Jews?” (Mk 15:1-2) Hail Mary

2. Jesus answered, / “My kingdom is not of this world; / if my kingship were of this world, / my servants would fight, / that I might not be handed over to the Jews; / but my kingship is not from the world.” (Jn 18:36) Hail Mary

The Third Sorrowful Mystery – The Crowning of Thorns
